أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ حُسَيْنٍ الْمُعَلِّمِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ بَشِيرِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ عَنْ شَدَّادِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ سَيِّدُ الِاسْتِغْفَارِ أَنْ تَقُولَ اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ أَنَا عَلَى عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ أَبُوءُ لَكَ بِالنِّعْمَةِ وَأَبُوءُ لَكَ بِذَنْبِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي إِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ فَإِنْ قَالَهَا حِينَ يُصْبِحُ مُوقِنًا بِهَا ثُمَّ مَاتَ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ وَإِنْ قَالَهَا بَعْدَمَا يُمْسِي مُوقِنًا بِهَا ثُمَّ مَاتَ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ حُسَيْنٌ أَثْبَتُ عِنْدَنَا مِنَ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ وَأَعْلَمُ بِعَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ وَحَدِيثُهُ أَوْلَى بِالصَّوَابِ
Translation

✧ From the Prophet ﷺ, he said: The master of seeking forgiveness is that you say: 'O Allah, You are my Lord. There is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant. I am upon Your covenant and Your promise as much as I am able. I acknowledge Your favor upon me and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for none forgives sins except You.' If he says it in the morning with certainty in it and then dies, he will be among the people of Paradise. And if he says it after evening with certainty in it and then dies, he will be among the people of Paradise. Abu Abd al-Rahman said: Husayn is more reliable in our view than al-Walid b. Tha'labah and more knowledgeable of Abdullah b. Buraida, and his hadith is more worthy of being correct.
