أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزُ بْنُ أَسَدٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ أَنَّ نَفَرًا صَحِبُوا شَدَّادَ بْنَ أَوْسٍ فَقَالُوا
حَدِّثْنَا بِشَيْءٍ سَمِعَتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ قَالَ إِذَا أَصْبَحَ اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ عَلَى عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ أَبُوءُ لَكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيَّ وَأَبُوءُ لَكَ بِذَنْبِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ فَإِنْ مَاتَ مِنْ يَوْمِهِ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ وَإِنْ مَاتَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَكَذَلِكَ [175] خَالَفَهُ الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ ثَعْلَبَةَ

✧ Narrate to us something you heard from the Messenger of God ﷺ. He said: I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: Whoever says in the morning: O God, You are my Lord. There is no god but You. You created me, and I am Your servant, upon Your covenant and Your promise as much as I am able. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your favor upon me, and I acknowledge my sin to You. So forgive me, for none forgives sins but You — if he dies that day, he enters Paradise; and if he dies during the night, likewise [175]. Al-Walid b. Tha'labah differed from him.
