أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُصْعَبُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ أَخُو مُقَاتِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ عَنْ مُقَاتِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ الرِّيَاحِيِّ عَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ قَالَ
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِأَخَرَةٍ إِذَا اجْتَمَعَ إِلَيْهِ أَصْحَابُهُ فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَنْهَضَ قَالَ «سُبْحَانَكَ اللهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ أَسْتَغْفِرُكَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْكَ عَمِلْتُ سُوءًا وَظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي إِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ» قَالَ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ هَذِهِ كَلِمَاتٌ أَحْدَثْتَهُنَّ؟ قَالَ أَجَلْ جَاءَنِي جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ هُنَّ كَفَّارَاتُ الْمَجْلِسِ

✧ Towards the end of his life, when his companions gathered around him and he wanted to rise, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would say: “Glory be to You, O Allah, and with Your praise. I bear witness that there is no god but You. I ask Your forgiveness and I repent to You. I have done wrong and wronged myself, so forgive me, for no one forgives sins but You.” We said: O Messenger of Allah, are these words that you have newly introduced? He said: “Yes. Jibril ﷺ came to me and said: O Muhammad, these are expiations for the session.”
