al-Sunan al-Kubra (al-Nasa'i) 10187

✧ Expiation of what occurs in the session, and mentioning the disagreement regarding Abu al-A'la in the news about that.

أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ خَشْرَمٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ أَبِي هَاشِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ عَنْ أَبِي بَرْزَةَ الْأَسْلَمِيِّ قَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِأَخَرَةٍ إِذَا طَالَ الْمَجْلِسُ قَالَ «سُبْحَانَكَ اللهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ أَسْتَغْفِرُكَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْكَ» قَالَ بَعْضُنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْكَ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ هَذَا الْقَوْلَ مَا لَنَا نَسْمَعُهُ مِنْكَ؟ قَالَ «هَذِهِ كَفَّارَةُ مَا يَكُونُ فِي الْمَجْلِسِ»

✧ Towards the end of his life, when the session became prolonged, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would say: “Glory be to You, O Allah, and with Your praise. I bear witness that there is no god but You. I ask Your forgiveness and I repent to You.” Some of us said: O Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless you and grant you peace, why do we hear this saying from you only now? He said: “This is an expiation for what occurs in the session.”
