أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبَانَ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ يَقُولُ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ يَقُولُ فِي صَبَاحِ كُلِّ يَوْمٍ وَمَسَاءِ كُلِّ لَيْلَةٍ بِسْمِ اللهِ الَّذِي لَا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ فَيَضُرُّهُ شَيْءٌ وَكَانَ أَبَانُ قَدْ أَصَابَهُ طَرَفُ فَالِجٍ فَجَعَلَ الرَّجُلُ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ قَالَ أَمَا إِنَّ الْحَدِيثَ كَمَا حَدَّثْتُكَ وَلَكِنِّي لَمْ أَفْعَلْهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِيَمْضِيَ عَلَى قَدَرِهِ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ضَعِيفٌ وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ فِرَاسٍ مَجْهُولٌ لَا نَعْرِفُهُ

Translation

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: No servant says in the morning of every day and the evening of every night: “In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing on earth or in heaven can harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing,” three times, and then anything harms him. Aban had been afflicted with a touch of paralysis, and the man began looking at him. He said: Indeed, the hadith is as I told you, but I did not do it that day so that what was decreed would occur. Abu 'Abd al-Rahman said: 'Abd al-Rahman b. Abi al-Zinad is weak, and Yazid b. Firas is unknown; we do not know him.
