أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى بْنُ وَاصِلِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حُمَيْدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْكَرِيمِ بْنُ سَلِيطٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ حُمَيْدُ الرُّؤَاسِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْكَرِيمِ بْنُ سَلِيطٍ عَنِ ابْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

أَنَّ نَفَرًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ قَالُوا لِعَلِيٍّ عِنْدَكَ فَاطِمَةُ فَدَخَلَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ «مَا حَاجَةُ ابْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ؟» قَالَ ذُكِرَتْ فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَرْحَبًا وَأَهْلًا» لَمْ يَزِدْهُ عَلَيْهَا فَخَرَجَ إِلَى الرَّهْطِ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ يَنْتَظِرُونَهُ فَقَالُوا مَا وَرَاءَكَ؟ قَالَ مَا أَدْرِي غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِي «مَرْحَبًا وَأَهْلًا» قَالُوا يَكْفِيكَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِحْدَاهُمَا قَدْ أَعْطَاكَ الْأَهْلَ وَأَعْطَاكَ الرَّحْبَ فَلَمَّا كَانَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ بَعْدَمَا زَوَّجَهُ قَالَ «يَا عَلِيُّ إِنَّهُ لَا بُدَّ لِلْعُرْسِ مِنْ وَلِيمَةٍ» قَالَ سَعْدٌ عِنْدِي كَبْشٌ وَجَمْعَ لَهُ رَهْطٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ آصُعًا مِنْ ذُرَةٍ فَلَمَّا كَانَ لَيْلَةُ الْبِنَاءِ قَالَ «يَا عَلِيُّ لَا تُحْدِثْ شَيْئًا حَتَّى تَلْقَانِي» فَدَعَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِمَاءٍ فَتَوَضَّأَ مِنْهُ ثُمَّ أَفْرَغَهُ عَلَى عَلِيٍّ فَقَالَ «اللهُمَّ بَارِكْ فِيهِمَا وَبَارِكْ عَلَيْهِمَا وَبَارِكْ لَهُمَا فِي شِبْلِهِمَا»

✧ Some men of the Ansar said to 'Ali, 'You have Fatimah (yet you are not married to her).' So he entered upon the Prophet ﷺ, greeted him, and he said, 'What is the need of Ibn Abi Talib?' He said, 'Fatimah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, has been mentioned (to me for marriage).' He said, 'Welcome and greetings.' He did not add anything to that. He went out to the group of Ansar who were waiting for him, and they said, 'What is your news?' He said, 'I do not know, except that he said to me, "Welcome and greetings."' They said, 'One of the two is enough for you from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: he has given you the family and the welcome.' Later, after he had married her, he said, 'O 'Ali, a wedding feast must have a walimah.' Sa'd said, 'I have a ram, and a group of Ansar gathered for him measures of corn.' On the wedding night, he said, 'O 'Ali, do not do anything until you meet me.' The Prophet ﷺ called for water, performed ablution with it, then poured it over 'Ali and said, 'O Allah, bless them, bless upon them, and bless for them in their offspring.'
