Sahih Muslim 278b
It is disliked for the person who wants to perform wudu', and others, to put his hand in the vessel (containing water) before washing it three times, if he is not sure whether something impure is on his hands or not
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ وَأَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ كِلاَهُمَا عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي رَزِينٍ وَأَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ فِي حَدِيثِ أَبِي مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَفِي حَدِيثِ وَكِيعٍ قَالَ يَرْفَعُهُ بِمِثْلِهِ
Translation
This hadith is transmitted from Abu Huraira by another chain of transmitters.
