machine translationIbn Abī ʿUmar narrated to us: ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz, meaning al-Darāwardī, narrated to us, from Yazīd, from Muḥammad b. Ibrāhīm, from Abū Salamah b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī, may God be pleased with him, that he said: The Messenger of God ﷺ used to seclude himself in devotion during the middle ten days of Ramadan. And he related the hadith like it, except that he said: "Let him remain in his place of seclusion (muʿtakaf)." And he said: "and his forehead was covered with mud and water."
