حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الصَّيْرَفِيُّ الْكُوفِيُّ قَالَ: نَا أَسَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو قَالَ: نَا مُجَالِدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ يَعْنِي الشَّعْبِيَّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ:
لَمَّا أَتَيْنَا النَّجَاشِيَّ، فَأَرَدْنَا الْخُرُوجَ مِنْ عِنْدِهِ حَمَّلَنَا وَزَوَّدَنَا وَأَعْطَانَا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: أَخْبِرُوا صَاحِبَكُمْ بِمَا صَنَعْتُ بِكُمْ، وَهَذِهِ رُسُلِي مَعَكُمْ، وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَأَنَّهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقُلْ لَهُ: اسْتَغْفِرْ لِي قَالَ جَعْفَرٌ: فَخَرَجْنَا مِنْ عِنْدِهِ إِذَا أَتَيْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ، فَتَلَقَّانِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَاعْتَنَقَنِي، وَقَالَ: مَا أَدْرِي أَنَا بِفَتْحِ خَيْبَرَ أَفْرَحُ أَمْ بِقُدُومِ جَعْفَرٍ ؟ ثُمَّ جَلَسَ، فَقَامَ رَسُولُ النَّجَاشِيِّ، فَقَالَ: هَذَا جَعْفَرٌ فَسَلْهُ عَمَّا صَنَعَ بِهِ صَاحِبُنَا، فَقَالَ جَعْفَرٌ: قَدْ فَعَلَ بِنَا، وَحَمَّلَنَا وَزَوَّدَنَا، وَشَهِدَ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، وَأَنَّكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ، وَقَالَ: قُلْ لَهُ يَسْتَغْفِرْ لِي، فَدَعَا ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ، فَقَالَ: " اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلنَّجَاشِيِّ "، فَقَالَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ: آمِينَ، فَقَالَ جَعْفَرٌ: فَقُلْتُ لِلرَّسُولِ انْطَلِقْ، فَأَبْلِغْ صَاحِبَكَ مَا رَأَيْتَ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ

✧ When we came to the Negus and wanted to leave him, he gave us mounts, provision, and gifts. Then he said: 'Tell your companion what I have done for you. Here are my messengers with you. I bear witness that there is no god but God and that he is the Messenger of God ﷺ. So tell him to ask forgiveness for me.' Ja'far said: 'We left him, and when we reached al-Madinah, the Prophet ﷺ met me and embraced me, and said: "I do not know whether I am happier with the conquest of Khaybar or with the arrival of Ja'far." Then he sat down, and the messenger of the Negus stood up and said: "This is Ja'far; ask him what our companion did for him." Ja'far said: 'He did such and such for us, gave us mounts and provision, and bore witness that there is no god but God and that you are the Messenger of God, and he said: Tell him to ask forgiveness for me.' He made supplication three times and said: "O God, forgive the Negus." The Muslims said: Amin. Ja'far said: 'I said to the messenger: Go ahead and convey to your companion what you saw from the Prophet.'
