وَقَالَ الْحَارِثُ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، ثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْحَكَمِ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ ؓ يَقُولُ:
مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي الضُّحَى قَطُّ، قَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ: فَذَكَرْتُ هَذَا لِسَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ ؓ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَتْرُكُ الْعَمَلَ كَرَاهِيَةَ أَنْ يَرَاهُ النَّاسُ، فَيَعْمَلُ بِهِ خَالِيًا، وَإِنِّي لَأُصَلِّيهَا
Translation

✧ I never saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pray the Duha prayer at all. 'Umar b. al-Hakam said: I mentioned this to Sa'd b. Abi Waqqas ؓ, and he said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to leave off an action out of dislike that people would see him and then do it, so he would do it privately. And I do pray it.'
