وَقَالَ عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، ثَنَا الْمُخْتَارُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَطَرٍ قَالَ:
بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ جُلُوسٌ مَعَ عَلِيٍّ ؓ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ: أَرِنِي وُضُوءَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ! فَدَعَا قَنْبَرًا فَقَالَ: ائْتِنِي بِكُوزٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ، فَغَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ وَوَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا، وَأَدْخَلَ بَعْضَ أَصَابِعِهِ فِي فِيهِ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ، وَفِيهِ: خَارِجَ الْأُذُنَيْنِ مِنَ الرَّأْسِ وَبَاطِنَهُمَا مِنَ الْوَجْهِ، ثُمَّ حَسَا حَسْوًا بَعْدَ الْوُضُوءِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: « كَذَا كَانَ وُضُوءُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ
Translation

✧ While we were sitting with Ali ؓ, a man said to him: 'Show me the ablution of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ!' He called Qanbar and said: 'Bring me a jug of water.' He washed his hands and face three times, and inserted some of his fingers into his mouth. Then he mentioned the hadith, in which is: 'The outside of the ears is part of the head and their inside is part of the face.' Then he sipped water after the ablution, then said: 'Thus was the ablution of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.'
