✧ The prayer of the excused person

وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ، ثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ أَبِي دَاوُدَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ ؓ قَالَ:

عَادَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَرِيضًا، وَأَنَا مَعَهُ، فَرَآهُ يُصَلِّي، وَيَسْجُدُ عَلَى وِسَادَةٍ، فَنَهَاهُ، وَقَالَ: إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ تَسْجُدَ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ فَاسْجُدْ، وَإِلَّا فَأَوْمِئْ إِيمَاءً، وَاجْعَلِ السُّجُودَ أَخْفَضَ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ visited a sick person while I was with him. He saw him praying and prostrating on a cushion, so he forbade him and said: 'If you are able to prostrate on the ground, prostrate; otherwise gesture, and make the prostration lower than the bowing.'
