حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ أَبِي دَاوُدَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ:

عَادَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَرِيضًا وَأَنَا مَعَهُ فَرَآهُ يُصَلِّي وَيَسْجُدُ عَلَى وِسَادَةٍ، فَنَهَاهُ، وَقَالَ: إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ تَسْجُدَ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ فَاسْجُدْ، وَإِلَّا فَأَوْمِئْ إِيمَاءً، وَاجْعَلِ السُّجُودَ أَخْفَضَ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ visited a sick person while I was with him, and saw him praying and prostrating on a cushion. He forbade him and said: “If you are able to prostrate on the ground, then prostrate; otherwise, gesture, and make the prostration lower than the bowing.”
