✧ Ibn Sayyad and the Uncertainty Regarding His Being the Dajjal

وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ زَائِدَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ عُقْبَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو لِحُذَيْفَةَ ؓ: أَلَا تُحَدِّثُنَا بِمَا سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ؟ قَالَ: بَلَى، سَمِعْتُهُ ﷺ، يَقُولُ:

إِنَّ مَعَ الدَّجَّالِ إِذَا خَرَجَ مَاءً وَنَارًا، فَأَمَّا الَّذِي يَرَى النَّاسُ أَنَّهُ مَاءٌ، فَنَارٌ تُحْرِقُ، وَأَمَّا الَّذِي يَرَى النَّاسُ أَنَّهُ نَارٌ، فَإِنَّهُ مَاءٌ بَارِدٌ، فَمَنْ أَدْرَكَ ذَلِكَ مِنْكُمْ فَلْيَقَعْ فِي الَّذِي يَرَى أَنَّهُ نَارٌ، فَإِنَّهُ مَاءٌ بَارِدٌ، فَقَالَ عُقْبَةُ ؓ: وَأَنَا سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ ذَلِكَ

Translation

✧ Indeed, with the Dajjal when he emerges there will be water and fire. As for what people see as water, it is burning fire. As for what people see as fire, it is cool water. So whoever of you reaches that, let him fall into what he sees as fire, for it is cool water. Uqba ؓ said: "And I heard him saying that."
