✧ Concerning the Mahdi and Other Just Caliphs

قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ أَبِي يُونُسَ، ثَنَا أَبُو بَحْرٍ

أَنَّ أَبَا الْجَلْدِ حَدَّثَهُ، وَحَلَفَ عَلَيْهِ: أَنَّهُ لَا تَهْلِكُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةُ حَتَّى يَكُونَ فِيهَا اثْنَا عَشَرَ خَلِيفَةً، كُلُّهُمْ يَعْمَلُ بِالْهُدَى وَدِينِ الْحَقِّ، مِنْهُمْ رَجُلَانِ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، يَعِيشُ أَحَدُهُمَا أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً، وَالْآخَرُ ثَلَاثِينَ سَنَةً، وَيَكُونُ خُلَفَاءُ بَعْدَهُمْ لَيْسُوا مِنْهُمْ

Translation

✧ Abu al-Jald narrated to him, and swore upon it: that this community will not perish until there are in it twelve caliphs, all of them acting upon guidance and the religion of truth. Among them are two men from the household of the Prophet ﷺ. One of them will live forty years and the other thirty years, and there will be caliphs after them who are not from them.
