✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray facing a palm trunk, and the mosque was an arbor, and he would deliver the sermon beside that trunk. Some men among his companions said: O Messenger of Allah, shall we make something for you to stand on on Friday so that you can see the people—or he said: so that the people can see you—and so that the people can hear your sermon? He said: "Yes." So they made three steps for him. The Prophet ﷺ stood as he used to stand, and the trunk inclined toward him. He said to it: "Be still." Then he said to his companions: "This trunk yearned for me." The Prophet ﷺ then said to it: "Be still. If you wish, I will plant you in Paradise and the righteous will eat from you; and if you wish, I will return you as you were, fresh." So it chose the Hereafter over this world. When the Prophet ﷺ passed away, it was given to Ubayy, and it remained with him until termites consumed it.
