✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ recited on Friday (the surah beginning with) Bara'ah while standing, reminding of the days of God. Ubayy b. Ka'b was facing the Prophet ﷺ, along with Abu al-Darda' and Abu Dharr. One of them nudged Ubayy b. Ka'b and said: 'When was this surah revealed, O Ubayy? For I have only just heard it now!' He gestured to him to be silent. When they finished, he said: 'I asked you when this surah was revealed, and you did not tell me.' Ubayy said: 'You have nothing from your prayer today except what you wasted in idle talk.' So I went to the Messenger of God ﷺ and mentioned that to him, and told him what Ubayy had said. He said: 'Ubayy spoke the truth.'
