✧ Someone who saw al-Zubayr ؓ striking down the horses told me—meaning on the Day of the Camel—and 'Ali ؓ called out to him: O Abu 'Abd Allah! He came forward until the necks of their mounts met. 'Ali ؓ said to him: I adjure you by Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, do you remember a day when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us while I was conversing privately with you, and he said: 'Are you conversing privately with him? By Allah, he will indeed fight you while he is an oppressor to you'? He said: Al-Zubayr ؓ struck the face of his mount and turned away.
