✧ The Battle of the Camel

وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَوْنٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الضُّحَى قَالَ:

قَالَ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ صُرَدٍ لِلْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ؓ: أَعْذِرْنِي عِنْدَ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، فَقَالَ الْحَسَنُ: لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ يَوْمَ الْجَمَلِ وَهُوَ يَلُوذُ بِي، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: وَدِدْتُ أَنِّي مُتُّ قَبْلَ هَذَا بِكَذَا وَكَذَا سَنَةٍ

Translation

✧ Sulayman b. Surad said to al-Hasan b. 'Ali ؓ: Excuse me before the Commander of the Faithful. Al-Hasan said: I saw him on the Day of the Camel taking refuge with me and saying: 'I wish I had died before this by such and such years.'
