✧ A man from Quraysh called Thumāmah was over Ṣanʿāʾ. When ʿUthmān ؓ was killed, he delivered a sermon and wept intensely. When he recovered, he said: 'Today the caliphate of prophethood has been wrested from the community of Muḥammad ﷺ and has become kingship and compulsion. Whoever seizes something consumes it.'
