وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، أَوْ عَنْ غَيْرِهِ مِنْ أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ قَالَ:
إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَمَرَ بِلَالًا أَنْ يُؤَذِّنَ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ عَلَى ظَهْرِ الْكَعْبَةِ، وَالْحَارِثُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ وَصَفْوَانُ بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ قَاعِدَانِ، أَحَدُهُمَا بِجَنْبَيْ صَاحِبِهِ، يُشِيرَانِ إِلَى بِلَالٍ، يَقُولُ أَحَدُهُمَا: انْظُرْ إِلَى هَذَا الْعَبْدِ، فَقَالَ الْآخَرُ: إِنْ يَكْرَهْهُ اللهُ يُغَيِّرْهُ
Translation

✧ On the day of the conquest, the Prophet ﷺ ordered Bilāl to give the call to prayer on top of the Kaʿbah, while al-Ḥārith b. Hishām and Ṣafwān b. Umayyah were sitting side by side. One of them pointed at Bilāl and said: “Look at this slave.” The other said: “If God dislikes him, He will change him.”
