قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ: أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ:
قُلْتُ لِسَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ: أَسَمِعْتَ مَا يُذْكَرُ فِي بَنِي نَاجِيَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ: إِنَّهُمْ حَيٌّ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُمْ، أَعَنْ ثِقَةٍ ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، يُرْوَى ذَلِكَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ نُفَيْلٍ ؓ. قَالَ: وَقَدْ أَتَوْا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ ؓ وَأَهْدَوْا لَهُ رِحَالًا عِلَافِيَّةً

✧ I said to Sa'd b. Ibrahim: 'Have you heard what is mentioned about Banu Najiyah from the Prophet ﷺ: that they are a clan from me and I am from them, from a reliable source?' He said: 'Yes, that is narrated from Sa'id b. Zayd b. 'Amr b. Nufayl ؓ.' He said: 'And they came to 'Abd al-Rahman b. 'Awf ؓ and gifted him 'ilafiyyah saddles.'
