✧ I traveled by sea in a ship, and it broke apart with us. I mounted a plank from it, and it cast me into a thicket where there was a lion. Nothing startled me except it. I said: O Abu al-Harith, I am Safina, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah. He said: It struck me with its shoulder, lowered its head, and began nudging me with its shoulder, then walked with me until it set me on the road. Then it struck me with its hand and made a sound for a while, and I thought it was bidding me farewell.
