✧ The Virtue of Khuzaymah b. Thabit, ᴿᴬ

وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ، ثَنَا عُمَارَةُ بْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ؓ قَالَ:

إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ اشْتَرَى فَرَسًا مِنْ سَوَاءِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ الْمُحَارِبِيِّ، فَجَحَدَهُ، فَشَهِدَ لَهُ خُزَيْمَةُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ ؓ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى الشَّهَادَةِ وَلَمْ تَكُنْ مَعَنَا حَاضِرًا، فَقَالَ ؓ: صَدَّقْتُكَ بِمَا جِئْتَ بِهِ، وَعَلِمْتُ أَنَّكَ لَا تَقُولُ إِلَّا حَقًّا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: مَنْ شَهِدَ لَهُ خُزَيْمَةُ أَوْ عَلَيْهِ فَهُوَ حَسْبُهُ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ bought a horse from Sawāʾ b. Qays al-Muḥāribī, who denied it. Khuzaymah b. Thābit ؓ testified for him. The Messenger of God ﷺ said to him: “What led you to testify when you were not present with us?” He ؓ said: “I believed you in what you brought, and I know that you speak nothing but truth.” The Messenger of God ﷺ said: “Whoever Khuzaymah testifies for or against, it suffices him.”
