وَقَالَ الْحَارِثُ: حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ثَنَا الْأَشْجَعِيُّ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ قَالَ: وَبَلَغَنِي
أَنَّ عَلِيَّ بْنَ الْحُسَيْنِ ؓ جَاءَهُ قَوْمٌ فَأَثْنَوْا عَلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: وَيْحَكُمْ، مَا أَكْذَبَكُمْ وَأَجْرَأَكُمْ عَلَى اللهِ تَعَالَى، نَحْنُ قَوْمٌ مِنْ صَالِحِي قَوْمِنَا، وَحَسْبُنَا أَنْ نَكُونَ مِنْ صَالِحِي قَوْمِنَا
Translation

✧ Ali ibn al-Husayn ؓ had some people come to him and they praised him. He said: Woe to you, how lying you are and how bold against Allah the Exalted! We are a people from among the righteous of our people, and it is enough for us that we be among the righteous of our people.
