✧ The Virtue of the Ahl al-Bayt, May Allah's Blessings Be Upon Them

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ الْكَرِيمِ بْنُ هِلَالٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَسْلَمُ الْمَكِّيُّ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الطُّفَيْلِ

أَنَّهُ رَأَى أَبَا ذَرٍّ ؓ قَائِمًا عَلَى الْبَابِ وَهُوَ يُنَادِي: يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، تَعْرِفُونِي ؟ مَنْ عَرَفَنِي فَقَدْ عَرَفَنِي، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَعْرِفْنِي فَأَنَا جُنْدُبٌ صَاحِبُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا أَبُو ذَرٍّ الْغِفَارِيُّ، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: إِنَّ مَثَلَ أَهْلِ بَيْتِي فِيكُمْ مَثَلُ سَفِينَةِ نُوحٍ، مَنْ رَكِبَهَا نَجَا، وَمَنْ تَخَلَّفَ عَنْهَا غَرِقَ، وَإِنَّ مَثَلَ أَهْلِ بَيْتِي فِيكُمْ مَثَلُ بَابِ حِطَّةٍ

Translation

✧ He saw Abu Dharr ؓ standing at the door calling out: O people, do you know me? Whoever knows me, he knows me; and whoever does not know me, then I am Jundub, the companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and I am Abu Dharr al-Ghifari. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: The likeness of my household among you is like the ark of Nuh; whoever boards it is saved, and whoever stays behind from it drowns. And the likeness of my household among you is like the Gate of Hittah.
