وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ آلِ أَبِي هَيَّاجٍ، قَالَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ:
مِنْبَرِي هَذَا عَلَى تُرْعَةٍ مِنْ تُرَعِ الْجَنَّةِ، إِنَّ رَجُلًا خَيَّرَهُ رَبُّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بَيْنَ أَنْ يَعِيشَ فِي الدُّنْيَا مَا شَاءَ اللهُ أَنْ يَعِيشَ، وَبَيْنَ لِقَاءِ رَبِّهِ، فَبَكَى أَبُو بَكْرٍ ؓ... الْحَدِيثَ، مِثْلُ حَدِيثِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ؓ، وَفِيهِ: وَلَكِنْ وُدٌّ، وَإِخَاءُ إِيمَانٍ.

✧ This pulpit of mine is on one of the gates of Paradise. A man was given the choice by his Lord, Mighty and Glorious, between living in this world as long as Allah willed for him to live, and meeting his Lord, and Abu Bakr ؓ wept... the hadith, like the hadith of Abu Sa'id ؓ, and in it: but love and the brotherhood of faith.
