قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هِشَامٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ الْقُدَيْدِيُّ، ثَنَا أَبِي، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ابْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ الرِّفَاعِيِّ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جُبَيْرَ بْنَ مُطْعِمٍ - ؓ يَقُولُ:

قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: أَتُحِبُّ يَا جُبَيْرُ إِذَا خَرَجْتَ سَفَرًا أَنْ تَكُونَ مِنْ أَمْثَلِ أَصْحَابِكَ هَيْئَةً، وَأَكْثَرِهِمْ زَادًا ؟ فَقُلْتُ: نَعَمْ، بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي، قَالَ ﷺ: فَاقْرَأْ هَذِهِ السُّوَرَ الْخَمْسَ: قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ وَ إِذَا جَاءَ نَصْرُ اللهِ وَالْفَتْحُ وَ قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ وَ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ وَ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ وَافْتَتِحْ كُلَّ سُورَةٍ بِبِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ، وَاخْتِمْ قِرَاءَتَكَ بِبِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ. قَالَ جُبَيْرٌ ؓ: وَكُنْتُ غَنِيًّا، كَثِيرَ الْمَالِ، فَكُنْتُ أَخْرُجُ فِي سَفَرٍ، فَأَكُونُ مِنْ أَبَذِّهِمْ هَيْئَةً، وَأَقَلِّهِمْ زَادًا، فَمَا زِلْتُ مُنْذُ عَلَّمَنِيهِنَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، وَقَرَأْتُ بِهِنَّ أَكُونُ مِنْ أَحْسَنِهِمْ هَيْئَةً، وَأَكْثَرِهِمْ زَادًا، حَتَّى أَرْجِعَ مِنْ سَفَرِي

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said to me: 'O Jubayr, would you like, when you go out on a journey, to be among the best of your companions in appearance and the most provisioned?' I said: 'Yes, by my father and mother.' He ﷺ said: 'Then recite these five surahs: "Say: O disbelievers," "When the help of God and victory comes," "Say: He is God, the One," "Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the dawn," and "Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind." Begin each surah with "In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful," and end your recitation with "In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful."' Jubayr ؓ said: 'I was wealthy, with much property, and I would go out on a journey and be among the worst of them in appearance and the least provisioned. But since the Messenger of God ﷺ taught me these and I recited them, I have been among the best of them in appearance and the most provisioned, until I return from my journey.'
