قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ فِي الزُّهْدِ: حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ الْوَرَّاقُ، ثَنَا عَثَّامٌ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ شَقِيقًا يَقُولُ:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كُنْتَ كَتَبْتَنَا عِنْدَكَ ( أَشْقِيَاءَ ) فَامْحُنَا وَاكْتُبْنَا سُعَدَاءَ، وَإِنْ كُنْتَ كَتَبْتَنَا سُعَدَاءَ فَأَثْبِتْنَا، فَإِنَّكَ تَمْحُو مَا تَشَاءُ وَتُثْبِتُ وَعِنْدَكَ أُمُّ الْكِتَابِ

✧ O Allah, if You have written us with You as wretched, then erase us and write us as felicitous; and if You have written us as felicitous, then confirm us, for You erase what You will and confirm, and with You is the Mother of the Book.
