وَقَالَ الْحَارِثُ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، ثَنَا كَثِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمُزَنِيُّ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ الْهِلَالِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ؓ، قَالَ:
قَالَ قَائِلٌ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ، مَا أَصْحَابُ الْأَعْرَافِ ؟ قَالَ ﷺ: « قَوْمٌ خَرَجُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ تَعَالَى بِغَيْرِ إِذْنِ آبَائِهِمْ، فَاسْتُشْهِدُوا فَمَنَعَتْهُمُ الشَّهَادَةُ أَنْ يَدْخُلُوا النَّارَ، وَمَنَعَتْهُمُ الْمَعْصِيَةُ أَنْ يَدْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ.

✧ Someone said: 'O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who are the People of the Heights?' He ﷺ said: 'People who went out in the path of Allah Almighty without the permission of their fathers, and were martyred. Their martyrdom kept them from entering the Fire, and their disobedience kept them from entering Paradise.'"
