✧ Warning Against Showing Off and Supplication That Removes It

وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ أَبِي إِسْرَائِيلَ، ثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ، عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ صُبَيْحٍ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ الرَّقَاشِيِّ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ؓ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

« يُجَاءُ بِابْنِ آدَمَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ كَأَنَّهُ بَذَجٌ وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ: كَأَنَّهُ جَمَلٌ فَيَقُولُ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ، أَنَا خَيْرُ قَسِيمٍ، انْظُرْ إِلَى عَمَلِكَ الَّذِي عَمِلْتَهُ لِي فَأَنَا أَجْزِيكَ عَلَيْهِ وَانْظُرْ إِلَى عَمَلِكَ الَّذِي عَمِلْتَهُ لِغَيْرِي فَيُجَازِيكَ عَلَى الَّذِي عَمِلْتَ لَهُ

Translation

✧ "The son of Adam will be brought on the Day of Resurrection as if he were a lamb—or perhaps he said: as if he were a camel—and Allah, Mighty and Majestic, will say: 'O son of Adam, I am the best of dividers. Look at the deeds you did for Me, and I will reward you for them; and look at the deeds you did for other than Me, and they will reward you for what you did for them.'"
