قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ غَيْلَانَ بْنِ بِشْرٍ، عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ، عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ ؓ قَالَ:

قِيلَ لَهُ: مَا تُحِبُّ لِمَنْ تُحِبُّ ؟ قَالَ: الْمَوْتَ، قَالَ: فَإِنْ لَمْ يَمُتْ ؟ قَالَ: يَقِلُّ مَالُهُ وَوَلَدُهُ

Translation

✧ He was asked: What do you wish for the one you love? He said: Death. He was asked: And if he does not die? He said: That his wealth and children become few.
