وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ، حَدَّثَنِي كَثِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ جَدِّي، أَوْ قَالَ: عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ؓ. قَالَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ:

مَنْ أَحْيَا سُنَّةً مِنْ سُنَّتِي فَعَمِلُوا بِهَا النَّاسُ، كَانَ لَهُ أَجْرُ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا لَا يَنْقُصُ مِنْ أُجُورِهِمْ شَيْئًا، وَمَنِ ابْتَدَعَ فَعُمِلَ بِهَا كَانَ عَلَيْهِ أَوْزَارُ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا لَا يَنْقُصُ مِنْ أَوْزَارِ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا شَيْئًا

✧ Whoever revives a Sunnah from my Sunnah and people act upon it, he will have the reward of those who act upon it, without their rewards being diminished in anything. And whoever introduces an innovation and it is acted upon, he will bear the burdens of those who act upon it, without their burdens being diminished in anything.
