✧ Warning Against Lying and Dictation

قَالَ الْحَارِثُ: حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ، حَدَّثَنَا مَيْسَرَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي عَائِشَةَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ، قَالَا: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

مَنِ اسْتَنْبَطَ حَدِيثًا بَاطِلًا، فَهُوَ كَمَنْ حَدَّثَ بِهِ، قِيلَ: وَكَيْفَ يَسْتَنْبِطُ ؟ قَالَ ﷺ: هُوَ الرَّجُلُ يَلْقَى الرَّجُلَ، فَيَقُولُ: كَانَ ذَيْتَ وَذَيْتَ، فَيَفْتَتِحُهُ، فَلَا يَكُونَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ مِفْتَاحًا لِلشَّرِّ وَالْبَاطِلِ

✧ Whoever fabricates a false hadith is like one who narrates it. It was said: How does he fabricate it? He ﷺ said: It is a man who meets another man and says: It was such-and-such, and thus opens the way for him. Let none of you be a key to evil and falsehood.
