وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ دَاوُدَ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ، عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ كَرِيزٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ:

إِنَّ أَخْوَفَ مَا أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ إِعْجَابُ الْمَرْءِ بِرَأْيِهِ، وَمَنْ قَالَ: أَنَا عَالِمٌ، فَهُوَ جَاهِلٌ، وَمَنْ قَالَ: إِنِّي فِي الْجَنَّةِ، فَهُوَ فِي النَّارِ

✧ The thing I fear most for you is a man’s admiration of his own opinion. Whoever says, ‘I am a scholar,’ he is ignorant. Whoever says, ‘I am in Paradise,’ he is in the Fire.
