✧ I was guarding the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one night when I stood up, so he took my hand and leaned on it. We came upon a man praying in the mosque raising his voice. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Perhaps he is showing off.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, he is praying and supplicating.' He ﷺ released my hand and said: 'You will never attain this matter by overpowering,' or he said 'by harshness.' He said: Then we went out another night and passed by a man praying raising his voice. I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, perhaps he is showing off.' He ﷺ said: 'No, rather he is awwah (one who sighs frequently out of fear of Allah).' He said: The man was 'Abd Allah Dhu al-Bijadayn ؓ, and the other was a bedouin.
