✧ I was guarding the Prophet ﷺ one night, and he went out for some need of his. He saw me, took my hand, and we went on. We passed by a man praying and reciting the Quran aloud. The Prophet ﷺ said: Perhaps he is showing off. I said: O Messenger of Allah, he is praying and reciting the Quran aloud. He released my hand, then said: You will never attain this matter by striving hard. Then he went out one night while I was guarding him for some need of his, and he took my hand. We passed by a man praying [and reciting] the Quran aloud. I said: Perhaps he is showing off. The Prophet ﷺ said: Not at all, indeed he is awwab (one who turns to Allah). He said: I looked, and it was Abdullah Dhu al-Bijadayn.
