✧ Dislike of Naming After Tyrants and Changing the Name to Something Better

وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ أَبْزَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَتْنِي أُمِّي، عَنْ أَبِيهَا:

أَنَّهُ شَهِدَ مَغَانِمَ حُنَيْنٍ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَاسْمُهُ غُرَابٌ، فَسَمَّاهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ مُسْلِمًا

Translation

✧ He was present at the spoils of Hunayn with the Messenger of God ﷺ, and his name was Ghurab. The Messenger of God named him Muslim.
