✧ Reason and its virtue

حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ، ثَنَا عَبَّادٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ؓ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ:

قَسَّمَ اللهُ تَعَالَى الْعَقْلَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَجْزَاءٍ، فَمَنْ يَكُنَّ فِيهِ كَمُلَ عَقْلُهُ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَكُنَّ فِيهِ فَلَا عَقْلَ لَهُ: حُسْنُ الْمَعْرِفَةِ بِاللهِ تَعَالَى، وَحُسْنُ الطَّاعَةِ لَهُ، وَحُسْنُ الصَّبْرِ عَلَى أَمْرِهِ

Translation

✧ God Almighty divided the intellect into three parts. Whoever has them, his intellect is complete, and whoever lacks them, he has no intellect: sound knowledge of God Almighty, sound obedience to Him, and sound patience with His decree.
