✧ “I will tell you what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did. It was my night with him. I ground some barley and made him a flat loaf. He returned and closed the door. Whenever he ﷺ wanted to sleep, he would close the door, tie the water-skin, turn over the cup and the plate, and extinguish the lamp. I waited for him to return from his mosque so I could feed him the loaf, but he did not return until sleep overcame me. A domestic sheep belonging to our neighbor came and took it, then chewed it away. I became distressed, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ woke up, so I hurried to the door. He said: “Take what you can find of your loaf, but do not harm your neighbor because of her sheep.”
