✧ Prohibition of Killing the Doves of Houses and Permission to Kill Snakes

وَقَالَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ: حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ قَالَ:

إِنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنْ قَتْلِ الْحَيَّاتِ فَقَالَ: خُلِقَ الْإِنْسَانُ وَالْحَيَّةُ سَوَاءً إِنْ رَآهَا أَفْزَعَتْهُ، وَإِنْ لَدَغَتْهُ أَوْجَعَتْهُ، فَاقْتُلُوهَا حَيْثُ وَجَدْتُمُوهَا

Translation

✧ A man asked the Prophet ﷺ about killing snakes. He said: 'Man and snake were created alike. If he sees it, it frightens him; if it bites him, it hurts him. So kill it wherever you find it.'
