✧ Permissibility of Eating Sea Game Without Slaughtering

قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، ثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ، وَأَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّهُمَا سَمِعَا شُرَيْحًا قَالَ:

كُلُّ شَيْءٍ فِي الْبَحْرِ مَذْبُوحٌ. قَالَ: فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِعَطَاءٍ فَقَالَ: أَمَّا الطَّيْرُ فَأَرَى أَنْ تَذْبَحَهُ.

Translation

✧ Everything in the sea is slaughtered. He said: I mentioned that to ʿAṭāʾ, who said: As for birds, I think you should slaughter them.
