✧ Killing Dogs

وَقَالَ الْحَارِثُ: حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ، ثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، ثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ أَبِي خِدَاشٍ، عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ؓ قَالَ: إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ:

يَا أَبَا رَافِعٍ، اقْتُلْ كُلَّ كَلْبٍ بِالْمَدِينَةِ. قَالَ: فَوَجَدْتُ نِسْوَةً فِي الْمَدِينَةِ مِنَ الْبَقِيعِ لَهُنَّ كَلْبٌ، فَقُلْنَ: يَا أَبَا رَافِعٍ، إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَدْ أَغْزَى رِجَالَنَا، وَإِنَّ هَذَا الْكَلْبَ يَنْفَعُنَا بَعْدَ اللهِ تَعَالَى، وَاللهِ مَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَحَدٌ أَنْ يَأْتِيَنَا حَتَّى تَقُومَ امْرَأَةٌ مِنَّا فَتَحُولَ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهُ، فَاذْكُرْهُ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ، قَالَ: فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ أَبُو رَافِعٍ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ، فَقَالَ: يَا أَبَا رَافِعٍ، اقْتُلْهُ فَإِنَّمَا يَمْنَعُهُنَّ اللهُ تَعَالَى

✧ 'O Abu Rafi', kill every dog in Madinah.' He said: 'I found some women in Madinah from al-Baqi' who had a dog. They said: O Abu Rafi', the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has sent our men on a military expedition, and this dog benefits us after Allah, Exalted. By Allah, no one can come to us unless one of our women stands and gets between him and it. Mention it to the Prophet ﷺ.' He said: 'Abu Rafi' mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: O Abu Rafi', kill it, for Allah, Exalted, will protect them.'
