✧ The encouragement of obedience and that the religion may be supported by a wicked person

قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ حَفْصٍ، عَنْ شَرِيكٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، يَرْفَعُهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ:

مَنْ مَاتَ وَلَا طَاعَةَ عَلَيْهِ مَاتَ مِيتَةً جَاهِلِيَّةً، وَمَنْ خَلَعَهَا بَعْدَ عَقْدِهِ إِيَّاهَا - قَالَ أَسْوَدُ - مِنْ عُنُقِهِ، لَقِيَ اللهَ تَعَالَى وَلَا حُجَّةَ لَهُ، قَالَاهَا جَمِيعًا ".

✧ Whoever dies without having any allegiance upon him dies a death of ignorance. And whoever casts it off after having pledged it—Aswad said: from his neck—will meet Allah the Exalted with no excuse. They both said it together.
