✧ Ali ؓ was brought people from the Zutt. He said: "I think he killed them." Then he looked at the sky, then at the earth, and said: "Allahu Akbar, Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth. Dig this spot—no, this spot." Then he looked at the sky, then at the earth, and said: "Allahu Akbar, Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth. Dig this spot." They dug, and he threw them into it. Then he entered, and I entered upon him and said: "What do you think about what you were doing just now? Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ give any instruction concerning them?" He said: "To fall from the sky to the earth would be dearer to me than to say about the Messenger of Allah ﷺ what he did not say. I am only employing a stratagem. Do you think that if I said 'Allahu Akbar, Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth, dig this spot,' what would it be?"
