قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، ثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ، ثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي حُسَيْنٍ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنْ ذَكْوَانَ مَوْلَى عَائِشَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ؓ قَالَتْ:

إِنَّ دُرْجًا أَتَى بِهِ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ، فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ أَصْحَابُهُ فَلَمْ يَعْرِفُوا قِيمَتَهُ، فَقَالَ: أَتَأْذَنُونَ أَنْ أَبْعَثَ بِهِ إِلَى عَائِشَةَ ؓ لِحُبِّ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِيَّاهَا ؟ قَالُوا: نَعَمْ، فَأُتِيَ بِهِ عَائِشَةَ ؓ، فَفَتَحَتْهُ فَقِيلَ: هَذَا أَرْسَلَ بِهِ إِلَيْكِ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ، فَقَالَتْ ؓ: مَاذَا فَتَحَ عَلَيَّ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ بَعْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، اللَّهُمَّ لَا تُبْقِنِي لِعَطِيَّةِ قَابِلٍ

✧ A casket was brought to Umar b. al-Khattab ؓ, and his companions looked at it but did not recognize its value. He said: 'Do you permit me to send it to A'ishah ؓ because of the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ love for her?' They said: 'Yes.' So it was brought to A'ishah ؓ, and she opened it. It was said: 'Umar b. al-Khattab ؓ sent this to you.' She ؓ said: 'What has Umar b. al-Khattab ؓ opened for me after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? O Allah, do not keep me alive for a future gift.'
