✧ The Ruling on the Apostate

وَقَالَ الْحُمَيْدِيُّ: ثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، ثَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ ظِبْيَانَ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي حَنِيفَةَ، قَالَ:
قَالَ لِي أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ: أَتَعْرِفُ الرَّجَّالَ ؟ قُلْتُ: نَعَمْ. قَالَ: فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: ضِرْسُهُ فِي النَّارِ أَعْظَمُ مِنْ أُحُدٍ، وَكَانَ أَسْلَمَ، ثُمَّ ارْتَدَّ وَلَحِقَ بِمُسَيْلِمَةَ، وَقَالَ: كَبْشَانِ انْتَطَحَا فَأَحَبُّهُمَا إِلَيَّ أَنْ يَغْلِبَ كَبْشِي

✧ Abu Hurayrah ؓ said to me: Do you know al-Rajjāl? I said: Yes. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'His molar tooth in the Fire is bigger than Mount Uhud.' He had embraced Islam, then apostatized and joined Musaylimah, and said: 'Two rams butted each other; the one I love most to win is my ram.'
