✧ The Number of Divorces

قَالَ الْحَارِثُ: حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، ثَنَا خَالِدٌ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ سُمَيْعٍ، عَنْ أَبِي رَزِينٍ قَالَ:

إِنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: سَمِعْتُ اللهَ تَعَالَى يَقُولُ: الطَّلاقُ مَرَّتَانِ، فَأَيْنَ الثَّالِثَةُ ؟ قَالَ: « فَإِمْسَاكٌ بِمَعْرُوفٍ أَوْ تَسْرِيحٌ بِإِحْسَانٍ

Translation

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: I heard Allah, Exalted is He, say: “Divorce is twice.” So where is the third? He said: “Then either retain [her] in kindness or release [her] with excellence.”
