✧ Tayammum

قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِ، عَنْ بُرْدٍ هُوَ ابْنُ سِنَانٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مُوسَى، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ قَالَ:

« لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ آيَةُ التَّيَمُّمِ لَمْ أَدْرِ كَيْفَ أَصْنَعُ، فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَسْأَلُهُ فَلَمْ أَجِدْهُ، فَانْطَلَقْتُ أَطْلُبُهُ فَاسْتَقْبَلْتُهُ، فَلَمَّا رَآنِي عَرَفَ الَّذِي جِئْتُ لَهُ، فَضَرَبَ بِيَدَيْهِ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ فَمَسَحَ وَجْهَهُ

Translation

✧ When the verse of tayammum was revealed, I did not know how to perform it. So I went to the Prophet ﷺ to ask him, but I did not find him. I set out looking for him and met him coming toward me. When he saw me, he knew what I had come for. He struck his hands on the ground and wiped his face.
