  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationIn its chain is Saʿīd b. Yūsuf, and he is weak (ḍaʿīf).

    in المطالب العالية, p. 1796

machine translationThis is known through Saʿīd, from Yaḥyā b. Abī Kathīr.

    in المطالب العالية, p. 1796
  • Abū Ḥatim al-Rāzī

machine translationThis Ismāʿīl is a proof (ḥujjah) when he narrates from the Syrians, and his teacher Saʿīd b. Yūsuf is a Syrian. Yes, the issue lies with his teacher, for Aḥmad and others criticised him. Abū Ḥātim said: He is not well known, and his hadith is not objectionable (munkar). Ibn ʿAdī said: I do not know anyone who narrates from him other than Ismāʿīl b. ʿAyyāsh. He has few hadiths, and his narrations have established chains and are not problematic. I do not know of anything more objectionable from him than what I mentioned, from the hadith of ʿIkrimah, meaning this one. Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in his Thiqāt. When Ibn al-Jawzī mentioned him in his book of weak narrators, he cited the saying of Yaḥyā, "weak in hadith", and the saying of al-Nasāʾī, "not strong", and limited himself to that. In his Taḥqīq, after relating the hadith with the aforementioned chain, he said: Ismāʿīl and Saʿīd are weak. But you have learned that the weakness in this hadith is not from the side of Ismāʿīl but from the side of Saʿīd, and his weakness is not agreed upon, as you have also learned.

    in المطالب العالية, p. 1796

machine translationSaʿīd b. Yūsuf al-Raḥabī has nothing more objectionable (munkar) than this hadith.

machine translationNothing more objectionable (munkar) than this has been narrated from Saʿīd b. Yūsuf.

    in المطالب العالية, p. 1796

machine translationSaʿīd b. Yūsuf al-Raḥabī has few hadiths, and his narrations have established chains and are not problematic. I do not know of anything more objectionable (munkar) from him than what I mentioned, among them this hadith.
